ORGANISED CHAOS, JUST ORGANISE

To get your ‘style mantra’ in full force you need a set structure to stand on. This set structure being, getting your wardrobe in order…

You can’t expect to know what you have to work with if you don’t know where it is. There is no such thing as organised chaos…We all know it doesn’t actually work.
So here is a quick guide to get you style in order…
1.Clothes- Choose one of these methods to organised your wardrobe (the one that makes most sense to you)
a.Clothes by Colour (Red, Blue, Brown, Prints, etc.)
b.Clothes by Type (Cocktail dress, Summer Dress, Cocktail Skirts, Work Skirts, T-Shirts, Strapless Tops, etc.)
c.Clothes by Style (Street wear, Casual, Formal, Work, etc.)
2.Shoes- They are a loved accessory so you should be able to see them
a.Take them out of their boxes – every girl needs to see what they are working with
b.Line them up, in order of their pair and keep them in order!
3.Jewellery- Being able to hide but be able to see is the key
a.Indulge in a Jewellery box – you will never regret the purchase. The key though is to get a Jewellery box that is organised but a piece in itself. Remember you have to look at it all the time so make sure it says ‘that’s me’ all over it!
Remember to edit your wardrobe each season. We all know some things just won’t ever work again!

FRIENDS AND FASHION

Some say it is a complement when a friend intentionally buys the precise ‘fashion love’ that you have just invested in. Some may even say its funny how friends have the same taste. Some will even have the nerve to make out it they have ‘had it for ages’ (even though you know it only hit stores a week ago and they have already seen it on you).

I say it is wrong.
Lets first set the record straight, it’s not a complement and it is downright fashion shamming. Accidental fashion doubles are okay, and if it is a universal trend then no harm has been done, but when the exact same item is purchased intentionally after finding it on a friend then it is a fashion no.
There are no excuses.
Style comes from inspirations and fashion adaptations. Any item you see on a friend is never going to feel like ‘yours’. If your friend has seemingly effortless style then use her as an inspiration for ideas not a muse to copy from.
A signature look is not a signature if it is an imitation. So remember this wise rule and abide with it, or forever be a fashion phoney!

I remember the feeling all to well…the first time I had a fashion love. My first fashion love was this chocolate oversized v-neck jumper with embroiled trimming finished with a subtle fur cuff. I was at the age of 13 and just in love with this piece! I did anything to get my hands on it. I promised my parents the world. With all the styles and trends that are so dominating in magazines, on our precious fashion blogs and presented on the runway it is easy to let our own style be outshined and be put away to gather cobwebs.

Sometimes a fashion detox is as good as an alcohol detox. It’s getting back to our origins and not following a trend ‘just because’. Wearing something purely because you love it will make you feel perfect, even if the latest style guide hasn’t done a feature on it.
Some of the freshest styling is done with pure personality and absolutely nothing can compete with it. Most fashionista’s actually find it to be their biggest rivalry.
